hello fellow adventures, long time no talkies.
so, my life right now in 50 words or less....hell i can sum it up in 2. bored shtiless....
i've gotten in to a daily routne. get up, take kristy to work, go home and sit on the computer even if its a gorgous day coz everyone else is at work, go to work, come home, eat, shit, sleep and repeat. this manotonous routine is slowly eating away at my sanity and i can feel everything i have done over the past 3 years (tafe, my trip) just pumble into oblivion. not to mention my fitness level has taken a nosedive.
i have been exeptd into uni, i have inrolled in the wilderness and environmental studies course biut i really don't know if thats what i want to do. uni i mean. i'm not sure if i am infact uni matirial and i feel that if i do go its then begining of the end. the beginning of the rest of my life. leave uni, get a job, have a family and live on till u die. i'm not realy for that!!!!
the one thing i am sure about is i want to guide and show off this awesome state i live in that all so many people disregard and wave aside like its the embarassing second cousine of australia when really it should be one of the best draw cards. and i realised from my time at skyline that guiding was something i'm kinda good at. which brings us neatly to the next delema.
i have another chance to go back to canada later in the year.
i was looking online and found that the holiday working visa is nolonger a once in a life time thing. u can now get it as many times as u like so long as u meet the requirements. also the visa is now for 2 years.
both krisy and i desperatly want to go back. both our jobs want us to come back.
so now i am torn between a very loose/win, loose/win situation.one that will effect my future in some ways. if i stay then i go to uni for 3 years and all that while keeping mum and dad happy but keeping kristy in a job she hates for 3 years and myself being unhappy. then joining the work force and get on with my life. or go and do what i loved doing. be in a place i loved to be in and actually feel happy but then have mum and dad on my case and "disapointed" with me coz i'm not doing what they want, leave all my friends behind...again but be in canada for the winter olympics...is a dellema.
on a brighter note the plans for my birthday r coming along well. i am doing a road trip with a small bunch of mates. we are going to be camping at douglas river for a few of the nights which is awesome because tis where i spent so much time as a kid and now i will be able to show my mates where i went every summer.
we will also be hitting up bay of fires as well as honeymoon bay on frecinet so look out east coast. the boys r coming.
well thats all the ranting and bitching from me for today.
catchya on the flip side. taz

fluffy
so for those of u who i haven't surprised or who haven't found out then i have 3 words for u

I AM HOME!!!!!!

now its been a big gap since we last spoke and there r reasons for that.
straight after i did that enrty i wetn and had a look for plane tickets home. i had been toying with the idea of surprising my brother for his birthday7 for a while and as time got closer i decided that i was ready to go home.
so we made the arrangments and prepared. i didn't want to make another entry coz i was so afraid i would let something slip. not only did i want to surprise luke but anyone else i could. so the only people who knew i was coming home was mum and dad and that was it!
the trip was long. with stop overs in San frasisco, Aukland and a few days in sydney it was a long journey.
seeing Mt wellington for the first time was when it hit that i was home.
so for those of u i haven't seen, here i am.
i'll try and get some pics up soon.
take care and see u around :)

fluffy
so i'm not sure how many of u have first met ur girlsfriend's mum by throwing her off a 1500 foot zip line. i imagine its not many so let me tell u its one hell of an icebreaker.
it was weird haveing them on tour as i was trying to say "hi, i'm tom, don't hate me!" while also trying to give the rest of the guests a good tour. anyways it went all ok and they had alot of fun. completely freaked out but fun.
a few days later myself and another guid ben finished work early so we comandeared 2 ATV's and went for a road trip into the sue valley behind skyline to see the ancient ceeders. it was such a nice ride including awesome views and challenging terrain. we got into the ceeders which are huge old trees. they reminded me alot of the old growth forrests at home. but with the rays of sun light along with light rian all at the same time it was one of those times i was kicking myself for not having my camera.
i hope to get back out there with my photo maker some time soon to show u all what it was like but u will have to take my word for it that it was an afternoon i won't be forgetting any time soon.

yesterday we had another interesting event. i tell everyone there are 4 things that stop skyline;
1) massive wind coming through the valley
2) heavy snow build up on the lines
3) animals interfearing with tours
4) lightning
yesterday while on tour a loud and thunderous clap follows shortly by flashes of lightning made every guide simutaniously look to the skys.
i had a few guests on the line when it happened and seeing as we are on lightning rods i was a wee bit concerned. as soon as they had landed and off the line every tour was forced to head home so with 5 tour groups all arriving back at bace at the same time u can imagine the chaos.
i'm not sure if its surprising that i kinda enjoyed the hectick mess and the total shit show it all became.
anyway boys and girls thats all i have to reprot right about now.
talk to u soon.
take care of urselves and each other.

1st-Aug-2007 03:25 pm - well hello there
fluffy
hey gang. howz things?
well i thought i would report in seeeing as its been a while. the reason i haven't done anything for a while is because i have been working every single day. as much as i love my job and what i do it gets tiring and there are only so many days in a row u can do before you get completely burnt out. my voice was starting to get very horse and many people who know me will agree thats hard to do.
also i am starting to get a little tired of riding the lines. i know i'm not the only one so we have started to improvise and take some "toys" with us to entertain ourselves. it all started with an umbrella ah la merry poppins style.
my weapon of choice was a broom stick however that was bettered by kara going down on a small sled.
the next item will be a hot pink bike with a basket on the front and an E.T. doll.
apart from that we have just had the mekka of mountain bike festivals here in whistler. "crank worx" was a week long festival celebrating everything and anything that can be done on a bike.

also at work i have had the chance to see a number of bears. they really are the most awesome creatures. my favortie encounter was when i was running painball and a bear just happened to walk onto the feild. not giving two donkeys balls about us or our guns blasting at each other it simply walked on and had a look around. of course we got the kids out of there before they shot at it and got it pissed off but then for a few minuets nick and me just watched it from about 20 feet away.

anyway guys thats me for now. i am finaly going to meet Kristy's mum and step dad tomorrow so wish me luck. although a dashing, charming, handsome and above all modest young man like me won't need it.
i'll reprot in a s soon as i get another day off. so don't hold your breath.

take care of yourselves and each other. love tom.

14th-Jun-2007 06:56 pm - 365 days
fluffy
so i'm not sure if anyone has noticed (or cares) but as of 2 days ago it has been a full year since i left home. yes thats right over 365 days ago i jumped on that plane heading for LA.
in that year i have done some crazy things and i have seen even weirder.
from the summer camp in origan to the cold of whistler and now the slowly warming up whistler its been a great ride. one that doesn't seem to be ending just yet.
in the past 2 weeks i have had my mum and dad staying with me. its been great seeing them again and although they enforce their parental athority just foir old times sake i have had a good time traveling around a bit of canada with them. we went to banff as well as jasper, both stunning places with some great atractions as well as pockets of wildlife. from bears to elks we got to see some graceful creatures really close up.
today dad and i went rafting. nothing overly huge but it was great to sit in a rubber boat and bash into rocks again.
well thats all for now. i'll update a bit later with some cool arse pics and more tales from "the other side".
take care of yourselves and each other.
love tom.

and remember Duct tape is like the "Force" (from Star Wars)

hazards
so here is an update on how things r going.
well i have finished all the training for skyline so i am ready to get into it and start touring on myn own...well there r always 2 guides but u know what i mean. as well as that i get to rip around on ATV's and also "the rino" a suped up golf cart with fat arse tyres and enough power to climb a tree. granted i haven't been doing it for long but i recon its going to take a while before i get bored of the lines. they r so much fun and i have started to do tricks like go upside down and backwards and all those fun things.

yesterday i got to see my first bear up close and personal. not only was it the mummy bear but 2 cubs as well. they were so cute whoever we had to shut down for the morning as they had parked themselves in the middle of our base and everyone knows not to mess with a mumma bear. plus this one was bitchier then normal. we had to get rid of them with painball guns...no we didn't fire painballs at them...but a part of me wanted to :)

the weather has been getting better and better. although its been a bit drizzerly today the rest of the time its been warm and sunny.

well thats all for now. if anything comes up u'll be the first to know...well second...ok in the top five or so.

take care of yourselves and each other.
love tom.

2nd-May-2007 12:09 pm - season change
fluffy
well the winter season really ended for me when it was time to close and rip down the rental shop. it took us 3 days more then exprected to completly empty the 2 shops and on friday we just stood in a room that was just the walls.
as we tore the place apart i looked back on the winter and thought about all the good times i had had. all the great skiing through knee deep powder or speeding down the runs with friends. wether it was doing some crazy tree runs by myself or just criusing with mates having some fun and hurting ourselves on kickers or rails the season was one i will remember for years to come.

but with the weather change so do i and as sad as i am to see the snow melt away i have alot to look forward to.

Kristy and i have scored a new place to live for the summer and i'm not too fussy on houses or anything but this place is perfect. it is literaly smack bang in the middle of the action and its so gorgious.
i have also scored a great job. i will be working for skyline tours. basicly i get to do this all day every day; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymhM81fzO8U

plus i will be staying here;

well like i said i have alot to look forward to including my parents coming up to visit in a few weeks. coincedently it will be round about the same time as when i left home so its coming up to a year since i left. but there are more adventures to come so stay tuned folks.

take care of urselves and each other.
